The year was 1986, Sir Joh Bjelke-Petersen was enjoying the final years of his reign as the longest-serving premier of Queensland, Parrammatta Eels are to be become NRL premiers, top of the song charts where Billy Oceans – When the Going Gets Tough the Tough get Going and Samantha Fox – Touch Me, I want Your Body (1986 not a great musical year) and in Brisbane The Myer Centre started construction. It was noted at the time that the construction of the complex was the largest urban excavation in Australia.
